This course is aimed at beginners. Each week one or two topics will be covered to enable you to gain confidence and the skills to create your own pastel paintings. A variety of techniques and subjects will be covered.

These could include: Instructions as a handout sent via email; video/photographic demonstrations by tutor delivered via Youtube; individual practice by student including homework and project work; individual feedback on student's work via email; etc.

Set of soft pastels. Coloured or tinted, slightly rough pastel paper (paper used in scrap books or children’s craft paper will be ok to start with). Drawing board if you have one, masking tape, pencil (2B), rags or paper kitchen towel, old shirt or apron to protect clothes, newspaper or plastic tablecloth to protect table. Sketchbook, pencil (HB), rubber. Plastic gloves to protect hands if desired.
