Create your own textile designs. A variety of subjects will be covered with tips on drawing and painting. Textile techniques to include fabric painting and printing, various techniques using ‘Bondaweb’, appliqué and colour It may be possible to join the course after the start date; phone for details.

These will include demonstrations by tutor; individual practice by student; instruction on a group and individual basis.


To the first session please bring the following (NB ‘Tone’ refers to the lightness and darkness of a colour): Pencil. Rubber. Ruler. Watercolour paper or thick drawing paper. Masking tape. Small drawing board (stiff cardboard, etc.) to fit A5 paper and calico. Inktense blocks/pencils/paints or acrylic paints. Soft brushes to include a ½”, or bigger, flat (square ended brush). 2 pots for water. Mixing palette – flat palette (old china plate). Calico (A5 x 2 roughly in size). Scraps of fabric (if you have them) a few each in light, mid, dark and very dark tones. They can be patterned but remember any fabric with a white design will be classed as light, these could be dunked in tea to dull them down. Stranded embroidery thread; variety of tones. Lace (white lace can be coloured). Coloured buttons, beads (variety of tones). Coloured net (I’ll bring mine in). Sewing equipment to include pins, needles, sharp fabric scissors, etc. Cover to protect table. Packed lunch if required.
