This course is aimed at beginners and those with some experience and will be structured around demonstrations, set work and students’ own projects. Skills and confidence in the techniques of pen drawing, applying watercolour and ink washes, oil pastel, soft pastel, watercolour pencils, collage, etc. will be developed. A variety of subjects will be covered.

These will include demonstrations by tutor; individual practice by student; instruction on a group and individual basis; question and answer, etc. If circumstances dictate where we are unable to meet face-to-face, a detailed handout will be emailed or posted to you, so you can work on it at home.


For the first session please bring: Watercolour paints, A3 cartridge drawing pad, good quality ‘Bockingford’ watercolour paper (size A4 140lb (300gsm), ‘NOT’ (or cold pressed) surface), a variety of soft nylon watercolour brushes, 2 large pots for water, drawing pen/biro, pencil (2B), note book, newspaper or plastic table cloth to protect table, apron or similar to protect clothes. Further equipment will be discussed at the first session. NB. Please wear face covering, and bring your own refreshments (inc. drink and mug) and hand sanitiser.

Parking is available at the centre. The room will be on the groundfloor and accessible for wheelchairs, and disabled accessible toilet.
