This course will be structured around demonstrations, set work and students’ own projects. A variety of water based media will be covered including watercolour, gouache, watercolour pencils and soft pastels. The course is designed to encourage and support a personal and experimental approach to various media and subject matter.

These will include demonstrations by tutor; individual practice by student; instruction on a group and individual basis; question and answer, etc.


For the first session please bring watercolour paints, good quality ‘Bockingford’ watercolour paper (size A3 140lb (300gsm), ‘NOT’ (or cold pressed) surface), a variety of soft watercolour brushes, 2 large pots for water, drawing board to attach paper, masking tape, pencil (HB), sketch pad, newspaper or plastic table cloth to protect table, apron or similar to protect clothes. Further equipment requirements will be discussed on the course.

Car parking is alongside the front and one side of hall. Tea and coffee provided at a small charge. It is on the ground floor and accessible for wheelchairs, with disabled accessible toilet.
