This course is aimed at beginners who want to learn and develop their skills in drawing and painting. Topics to be covered include techniques to draw accurately, 3-dimensional (form & shape) drawing and painting, depth and distance in landscape, as well as looking at various drawing media and painting techniques.

These will include demonstrations by tutor; individual practice by student (set work and students’ own projects); instruction on a group and individual basis; question and answers, etc.


First session: Please bring a range of pencils from HB to 8B, sketchbook (A3), rubber, sharpener & ruler. Further equipment requirements will be discussed on the course. Future sessions: Drawing: Charcoal, putty rubber, ink nibs/holder, and black ink. Painting: Set of gouache paints – the versatility of water based gouache paints will allow us to look at watercolour and basic oil painting techniques.

Car parking is alongside the front and one side of hall. Tea and coffee provided at a small charge. It is on the ground floor and accessible for wheelchairs, with disabled accessible toilet.
